Deerness

Deerness is a quoad sacra parish (i.e. one created and functioning for ecclesiastical purposes only) and peninsula in Mainland, Orkney.
It is about 8½ miles south east of Kirkwall
. Politically Deerness forms a part of the Parish of St. Andrews
, which was made separate in 1845.
It consists chiefly of the peninsula
, but also takes in Copinsay
and its surrounding islands, the Horse
, Corn Holm
and so on.
