Film career

Deepa was interested in acting, but fear of her engineering studies being affected discouraged her father, Gopalakrishnan to allow her to join films. After that, directors Vipin Mohan, Bhagya Raj, Sanal, Sab John spoke to her father and thus, she made her debut through "Priyam". She had a tough time with filmi dance because the style was very different from normal classical dance, especially when it came to fast steps. She received plenty of offers after "Priyam". She did not want it to affect her studies, hence had to refuse the role played by Kavya Madhavan in " Sahayathrikaykku Snehapoorvam ". She have received offers from Tamil films also but at present she plans on concentrating only on Malayalam. Her favorite actress is Manju Warrier

Personal life

Deepa Nair, of Priyam fame, got married to a computer engineer based in Australia, Rajeev Nayar. Married in Subramaniyam hall in Trivandrum in the presence of all the eminent actors of the malayalam film industry including Kunchacko Boban. Engineering studies did not encourage her to proceed with more film acting. Instead she took up a job with Infosys on having secured distinction in her B.Tech course and wedding finally to get on with life. She has one daughter, Shradha, born in 2005. She is also a trained dancer.
