and language of Chinese, Indian, and European origin. According to recent (2008) classifications, they belong to two distinct branches of the Austronesian language family
: the various groups of Bornean

(including Land Dayak), and the Ibanic languages
of the Malayic
branch, distinguished as Malayan Dayak (Sea Dayak).
