Hornsby married actress Emily Deschanel on September 25, 2010, in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

On March 31, 2011, it was announced that the couple was expecting their first child due in autumn. Their son, Henry Lamar Hornsby, was born September 21, 2011.
