David Collins is an Irish

final. Collins ended up on the losing side in the final, however, his performance in the championship earned him the coveted "Young Hurler of the Year" award. In 2006 Galway had a poor season and they were eliminated from the championship by eventual winners Kilkenny
. At the end of the year Ger Loughnane
was appointed manager of Galway and Collins was appointed captain of the side for the 2007 championship
