After an excellent first season with Gloucester, Attwood was called up into the full England team for the 2010 Summer tour to Australia. There he played two games with the second-string squad against the Australian Barbarians, where he was cited at the end of the first game for stomping – citing that was dismissed on technicalities before being reviewed. Attwood made his senior England debut as a replacement for Tom Palmer in the game against New Zealand on 7 November 2010.
