History
The school began in 1800 in the Old Church House in Week. Funding for the school was found in the 1667 bequest of John Ford which provided an annuity of 40 shillings, money intended for the supply of Bibles for the poor, which had accumulated unused since 1780. This remained the site of the Parish School until 1855, when a New school was built at Shinners Bridge on land donated for the purpose by Mr A Champernowne. This School was also used for worship between the demolition of the old church at the Hall in 1878 and the completion of the new church in 1880. In 1884 the schoolroom was extended and an infant's classroom built onto the North side. In 1939 children over the age of 11 were transferred to the newly built Senior SchoolKing Edward VI Community College
