During Darrin's tenure at CU from 1995-1998, Colorado had two 10 win seasons and he was a part of three Bowl win teams (Cotton 1996, Holiday 1996, and Aloha 1998). Prior to his arrival at the University of Colorado, Darrin led the state of California in receptions with 88 and had 1,188 yards receiving in 1994 while attending Corona High School in Corona California. He holds the Browns' record for most catches by a rookie (1999). Since leaving the NFL he has gone into coaching and served as the Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receiver Coach for Mount San Antonio College in 2008. Mount San Antonio College won Back-to-Back Southern California Titles in 2007 and in 2008. In 2009 Darrin worked with UCLA football as the Assistant Special Teams Coach under Frank Gansz Jr. UCLA's Special Teams ranked among the best in the PAC-10 in 2009. UCLA went on to defeat Temple University in the 2009 Eagle Bank Bowl in Washington DC.

Darrin played a role of a Prison Guard in the movie "The Longest Yard" remake starring Adam Sandler. Darrin was hired in January of 2010 at Riverside City College as the Associate Head Coach / Recruiting Coordinator. Helped Riverside to a 10-1 record and a Central Division Championship. RCC was 1-9 in 2009 and the 10-1 record in 2010 marks one of the biggest turnarounds in Junior College Football History.

After retiring from professional football, Darrin completed his Bachelor Degree in Communications in the Winter of 2006 from the University of Colorado. He then went onto complete his Master's Degree in Human Performance and Sport Sciences in 2009 from New Mexico Highlands University. Was inducted into the Corona High School Hall Of Fame on October 13th 2010.

Darrin resides in Corona California with his wife Shannon and their two children.
