The Darkweaver Legacy is a series of four young adult fantasy novel
s by British author Mark Robson
. The first book in the series was published in 2000 and the fourth and final book in 2003. The name refers to a important magical artifact in the books, made by a magician named Derrigan Darkweaver. His "legacy" is his amulet that was found by Earl Demarr in the first book, The Forging of the Sword. The series is a prelude to Mark's second series of children's books, the Imperial series, which unlike the first series focuses on espionage rather than magic. Both series are set in the fictional countries of Thrandor and Shandar.
In The Forging of the Sword, Calvyn becomes an orphan and meets an old magician named Perdimonn, who agrees to teach him magic. He is forced to separate from his mentor when they meet up with Selkor. Selkor is a young magician with a lust for power, Because of this he wants a source of magical power entrusted to Perdimonnm, which forces him and Calvyn to spit up. Perdimonn then travels to some mountains, where he plans to defend against Selkor. Calvyn travels around for a short time, till he decides to join Thrandor's army. Thrandor is the hero Calvyn's home country. Shandar on the other hand plays a less significant role until the Imperial series.
