A Townsville junior, Moore's early career was in the forwards and joined Manly as a lock forward where he made his first grade debut in the round 7 clash of 1991 against the Parramatta Eels

. He was switched to the centres at the start of 1993 season and became a regular first grader.

He was in the centres in the Manly side which contested and lost the 1995 Grand Final to Canterbury
