He announced on 22 January 2010 that he is leaving 987FM and the radio industry at large, to spend time with his new family. Despite these claims, Ong has stated, if given the opportunity he would take up a position at Class 95. He will be a free lance host and voice talent in the interim. He formerly hosted "The Wrong Way Home" on Singapore's Radio 91.3FM.

Daniel Ong announced on Radio 91.3FM that he will be leaving radio to focus on his family. He will however continue hosting events and recording voice overs.

Criticism

In 2004, Daniel was suspended from on-air duties following complaints to Singapore's Media Development Authority that he and his then co-host ex-deejay/rapper Sheikh Haikel made lewd remarks on air when a teenage male listener called in for advice on how to attract a girl he liked. Although Daniel tried to downplay the remarks of his co-host, MediaCorp Radio's 987FM was cautioned and fined S$30,000. Sheikh Haikel was asked to leave.

In 2007 in a Singapore magazine, Daniel had been politely asked to be aware of releasing spoilers on the radio. Although the winner of Survivor: Cook Islands, had been named, the show was still airing in Singapore and audiences wanted to be kept in suspense on who the winner might be. Ong did not give a spoiler warning and released the name of the winner of the contest.
