 and has extended its services into northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio. Through its chief subsidiary, Duquesne Light, the corporation provides energy to over 600,000 homes and businesses. Power is primarily generated via coal power plants. However, the company is attempting to change this trend and, through its Duquesne Energy Solutions subsidiary, is developing cleaner power sources, including synthetics. The company is also actively involved in the reclamation of gases from landfills.

Aside from electricity production, the corporation also operates a massive network of fiber-optic cables through DQE Communications. This subsidiary is a growing internet service provider

Historic incorporation

Duquesne Light was one of the dozens of companies founded by inventor George Westinghouse
