At present, he is the Associate Director for Research of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communication Programs and an Associate Scientist at the Department of Health Policy and Management in the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

He is also a co-author of Health Communication: Lessons from Family Planning and Reproductive Health, considered by many as a seminal book on the topic of health communication. He edited Communication Theory: Eastern and Western Perspectives.
