Cuboidal epithelia
Encyclopedia
Cuboidal epithelia are epithelial cells
having a cube-like shape; that is, their width is approximately equal to their height. They may exist in single layers (simple cuboidal epithelium
) or multiple layers (stratified cuboidal epithelium
) depending on their location (and thus function) in the body.
Cell (biology)
The cell is the basic structural and functional unit of all known living organisms. It is the smallest unit of life that is classified as a living thing, and is often called the building block of life. The Alberts text discusses how the "cellular building blocks" move to shape developing embryos....

Simple cuboidal epithelium
Simple cuboidal epithelia are epithelial cells in a single layer of cubelike cells with large, spherical central nuclei. Simple cuboidal epithelia are found on the surface of ovaries, the lining of nephrons, the walls of the renal tubules, and parts of the eye and thyroid. On these surfaces, the...

Stratified cuboidal epithelium
Stratified cuboidal epithelia is a rare type of epithelial tissue composed of cuboidally shaped cells arranged in multiple layers. They protect areas such as ducts of sweat glands, mammary glands, and salivary glands.-External links:...
