, Reyes moved to Canada. There he joined several bands, making music for the sheer fun of it. A trilogy of bands formed with his musical partner in crime, Steve Laviolette, and all named after Iggy Pop records (Kill City, Raw Power and Funhouse) would ultimately lead to Crash Bang Crunch Pop.

In June 1983, Reyes and Laviolette flew down to LA for the Black Flag Reunion Concert with the Misfits at the Santa Monica Civic. This visit back to his home convinced Ron and Laviolette that the time was right to move to L.A. and get serious.

Reyes started a band called Fun House, in which Duff from Guns n Roses and another man named Randy played guitar, Reyes sang and Laviolette played bass. They played a few gigs but were hampered by Duff's commitments with another band. Los Angeles was hard for Laviolette; he missed his girl friend, they were poor and living out of Laviolette's beat up old Rambler. They lived off Oki Dogs and burritos Laviolette would warm up on the manifold of his car. Then all their gear got stolen from a practice place near Hollywood and Western. That was enough for Laviolette so he returned to Vancouver. He died a while later in a car crash the same date the Space Shuttle blew to pieces. Reyes' best friend and musical partner was gone and he was devastated.

Reyes would seclude himself in his 69 Ford Van writing songs and recording them on his Tascam tape recorder. After a while there was enough songs to put a band together. The name “Fun House” was taken by a band in Hollywood so another name would emerge. The name that best described the sound and attitude of the music was Crash Bang Crunch Pop.

Crash Bang Crunch Pop were eventually signed to Cruz Records, a record label started by Greg Ginn
