has dismissed Cranston School District’s suit claiming the City of Cranston failed to fund the district’s schools adequately. The district claimed that its $105.7 million budget was inadequate, necessitating the elimination of extracurricular programs such as music, arts, and sports. The district asked the court to order an additional appropriation for the city’s schools. The court rejected the district’s claim, concluding that it had failed to demonstrate that the school district "lacks the ability to adequately run the schools for that school year with a balanced budget." On the contrary, the court found that the evidence demonstrated that the city has provided adequate funding.
