History

Country Day School of the Sacred Heart was established in 1865 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart. It has been lay owned and operated since 1969. It joined the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in 1999, reuniting it with its roots.

Academic Curriculum

Sacred Heart is a college-preparatory school and gives students the skills they need to be successful throughout life. There are 9 departments, which include English, History, Health, Languages, Mathematics, Physical Education, Religion, Science, Technology, and Art. Honors and AP courses are offered in most departments.

English includes American literature, British Literature, World Literature, and Advanced Writing. (honors and AP courses are offered.)

History includes American History, Comparative governments, European History, and World History. (honors and AP courses included).

Languages include French, Spanish, and Latin. (honors courses included.)

Mathematics includes Algebra, Geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics. (honors courses offered).

Religion includes World religions, Social justice, New Testament, Old Testament, Morality, Church History, and Christian Vocation.

Sciences include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences. (honors and AP courses included.)

Entering ninth grade students are eligible for merit scholarships. Academic scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability.
