In 1898, the original school building burnt down and was rebuilt as a two room school, providing education for children up to the 9th grade. Children that wanted to continue through high school attended school in either Galesburg or Kalamazoo. In 1906, a second story was added to Comstock Village School to accommodate grades up through 12th.
