Based on fortnightly sales, confirmed by the UK's Audit Bureau of Circulation, Computeractive is the UK's best-selling computer magazine. Whilst 79% of the magazine's readers are male, it is claimed that the 21% female readership is the largest for any UK technology magazine.

The magazine is split into three main sections:- How To – includes a pull-out 'Workshops' section, a question-and-answer section in which staff provide answers to readers' computer problems and productivity features on a broad range of home computing topics.
- Tried & Tested – reviews of consumer hardware and software by the magazine's staff and various freelance journalists.
- Interactive – news, consumer rights advice, recommended freeware and shareware downloads and reader-generated material such as computer tips and letters.
