Comic Idol is a competition held in The Beano
The Beano
The Beano is a British children's comic, published by D.C. Thomson & Co and is arguably their most successful.The comic first appeared on 30 July 1938, and was published weekly. During the Second World War,The Beano and The Dandy were published on alternating weeks because of paper and ink...

 every few years. In it, 3 to 6 new strips (or old strips brought back), run as guest strips in Beano for a few weeks, and the most popular, determined by votes, gets a permanent place in the Beano (although often not lasting forever). See below for a full list of winners and the losing strips.
