. The Aces were made up of the staff, coaches, and players from the CIFL's charter franchise the Marion Mayhem

, which played from 2006 until 2010. The Aces failed as an attempted move to Columbus. The team stayed in Marion under the name of the Mayhem still, but did not have enough money to finish the 2010 season, forfeiting their final 4 games of the season.

The Aces would have be the third attempt at arena or indoor football in Columbus, as well as the first not in the Arena Football League, following prior teams the Columbus Thunderbolts (played only the 1991 season before moving to Cleveland) and the Columbus Destroyers
