Career

Through more than 20 years as a journalist she has covered US and Canadian politics, finance, the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Bosnia conflict and in more than 10 years at CNN International has participated in live coverage for most of the major global news events of the last decade including the Asia Tsunami, the Japan earthquake, the decline of Suharto, the death of Bhutto, the Kosovo war, the crash of Swissair flight 111, the Haiti earthquake, and the 2008 presidential election to name just a few.
She has been a prominent face in CNN's global economic crisis coverage. Colleen has a Masters degree in instructional design and in 2011 earned a Ph.D. in education with a specialization in technology management and the application of learning platforms to maximize performance improvements for adult learners. She is a trainer and mentor to young journalists throughout the world and participates in many education and training events and professional affiliations. She has been a real estate and business professional, teacher, trainer and journalist in online, print, and broadcasting formats. She is a published author and speaks at least three languages.
