The Clutag Press was established in 2000 as a venture by Andrew McNeillie

Andrew McNeillie was born at Hen Golwyn in North Wales, 12th August 1946, and educated at the primary school there, at Colwyn Bay Grammar School, and from the age of thirteen at John Bright Grammar School, Llandudno. He read English at Magdalen College, Oxford, as a mature student, 1971-1973...

 to issue Clutag Poetry Leaflets, by established and emerging poets. In 2004, it received backing from The Christopher Tower Fund (in association with Christ Church College, Oxford University). As a result, it began issuing more substantial poetry pamphlets, full length books, and CD sound recordings.

Its literary archive is now collected exclusively by the Bodleian Library
