Clifford Darling

Sir Clifford Darling GCVO
(b. 6 February 1922, Acklins
) was the fourth Governor-General of the Bahamas
from 1992 until his retirement on January 2, 1995. Prior to this, he was a Senator from 1964–67, Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly
from 1967-69, Minister of: State in 1969, Labour and Welfare in 1971 and Labour and National Insurance from 1974-77. He was Speaker of the House of Assembly from 1977 until becoming Governor-General in 1992.
Previously, Darling worked as a taxi cab driver, and served as both the general secretary, and president of the Bahamas Taxi Cab Union
