Claire Finkle Loux was an American songwriter and poet
. She was born in Anaconda, Montana
, the 4th child of Dutch-born Mijntje (Minnie) Boel and American-born William Warren Finkle. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Rensselaer, New York
. As a young girl, while on summer holiday with her family relatives, Clara had a serendipitous encounter with the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay

Loux at her family's residence in Albany, New York on 5 November 1938 and moved to Delmar, a suburb of Albany. In later life she was a real estate broker in Delmar. She died in 2000 and was buried in the Loux family plot in Graceland Cemetery, Albany, New York.
