. In January 2009, the college completed its move to its new location, Swanswell. The new purpose built campus is situated just outside the city centre on the site of former council flats.

History

City College Coventry came about in 2002 following the 'merger' by Tile Hill College and Coventry Technical College. This followed years of financial difficulties, resignations and allegations of mismanagement at Coventry Technical College. Tile Hill College, meanwhile, was recognised as one of the best run further education colleges in the country. The college renamed its two constituent sites to The Butts Centre (Coventry Technical College) and Tile Hill Centre (Tile Hill College). The Butts site was built in 1935, while the Tile Hill Centre was built in the 1960s.

Swanswell

In August 2007, the first phase of the Swanswell site was completed. The courses from Maxwell and Tile Hill Centres started in phase one in September 2007. November 2008 saw the completion of phase two, and in January 2009, staff and students from The Butts Centre moved in.

The site is on reclaimed land after council flats were demolished.
