Christo Kasabi Wins First Cap for Cyprus - Oct 28, 2007, 7:40 pm

There was widespread delight amongst the Senior Section players & coaches today with the news that Saracens player Christo Kasabi had won his first cap for Cyprus!

A Saracens Junior since the age of 12, Christo played Age Group rugby at Saracens, toured Australia with the U.17s in 2002, and was one of the founding members of the Colts and Seniors in the 'new era' of Senior Amateur rugby at Saracens. He captained the 1st XV last season in their League Title winning efforts, and has been an ever-present member of the team this season. Born in Maidstone, Kent and raised in Enfield, Middlesex, Christo qualifies for Cyprus via his parents and was invited to join the national training squad earlier in the year.

Today, Christo made the starting line up for the international v Azerbaijan in Paphos. Playing at tight head and throwing in to the line out, he made an excellent contribution to the Cypriot 29-0 victory. He will learn later in the week if he will gain a second cap next weekend in the international match v Slovakia

"Christo represents the very best of Saracens and thoroughly deserves this success" said a delighted Colin Veitch "He is a popular, hard-working and talented member of the Saracens squad who is at the heart of our mission to rebuild Saracens Senior rugby. We are all delighted for him today, and I hope that our younger club members will be inspired by his achievement"
