History

The Kurla-Chembur single line was built in 1906 for garbage trains. It was opened to passenger traffic in the year 1924.. The Kurla-Mankhurd section which also contained Chembur was electrified in 1950 and suburban steam services were run on one track from 1951.

Station

The Station serves a 9 rack Mumbai local train. It has a single block station that has two platforms numbered 1 and 2. Platform number 1 serves the North bound trains towards Panvel while South bound trains are served by Platform number 2. There are 2 entry and exit points to the platforms. There are 4 entry and exit points to the station.

The station has counters for long distance train ticket booking, season tickets, platform and local train travel ticket. It also has machines to punch railway coupons and accepts smart card and Go card ticket booking. A second booking counter is available at the North end foot over bridge.

Access

The station provides noise indicators for the blind to help them spot where their compartment comes in. It does not have ramp for the differently mobile. The Station Master's Office has the First Aid Box. The station can be reached by road on both East and West sides.
