in 1989. The district is located north of downtown Norwich
and includes the Chelsea Parade Green and its monuments.
It includes 565 contributing buildings, two other contributing sites, and six contributing objects over an 205 acres (83 ha) area.
It includes the Nathaniel Backus House

, and the Converse House and Barn
which are separately NRHP-listed. Other notable buildings include the Norwich Free Academy
