Floyd was elected as a Democrat
to the Twenty-seventh Congress
(March 4, 1841 – March 3, 1843). After his term in the House of Representatives, he became county judge of Suffolk County and Town supervisor
of Huntington 1843–1865. He resumed agricultural pursuits. He died in Commack
, Long Island
