Line 55 was inaugurated on 30 August 1996, together with the Waterloo-Parc section of the downtown loop. It has a length of 3.45 kilometres (2.1 mi), all on pre-metro infrastructure, and includes 6 stations.

Trams drive on the right between Parc and Waterloo, then on the left between Samaritaine and Gilly.

Trams on line 55 run from 05:00 until 20:00.
  • Every 10 minutes (15 minutes between 05:00 and 06:00, and between 18:00 and 20:00) on weekdays.
  • Every 15 minutes (20 minutes between 18:00 and 20:00) on Saturdays, and on weekdays during school holidays.
  • Every 20 minutes (30 minutes between 18:00 and 20:00) on Sundays and holidays.
