, is an advocate for cancer patients and children. She is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Blood Cancer Foundation, a non-profit committed to curing lymphoma, leukemia, and myeloma through fundraising for research and promoting awareness. McMann is co-author of “Battling and Beating Cancer – The Cancer Survival Book” and is co-host of the “Battling and Beating Cancer” radio show. Previously, McMann co-founded and was past president of the Chicago Chapter of the Lymphoma Research Foundation, which was that organization’s first local chapter. McMann spearheaded the Lymphomathon 5K walk and run, which started in Chicago and now is an annual event in more than 16 American cities. She received a Jefferson Award for Public Service for her cancer advocacy, organizing, fundraising, and leadership. She subsequently became a Member of the National Board of Selectors of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service and launched a landmark national program to promote health, physical activity, and well-being in students. She also is a Chicago Woman of the Year first place winner. Her efforts in organizing charitable organizations, educational events, and fundraisers have been recognised for their impact of the lives of countless patients and families living with cancer in the Chicago area and on a national basis.
