He completed B.Sc. in Economics
and then pursued M.Sc. in the same from Calcutta University. He married Sanchari Mukherjee in 2006.
Initially, Chandril used to write in the column 'Uttam Madhyam' for Anandabazar Patrika
on alternate Sundays, also contributing to occasional op-eds in the same newspaper.'Uttam Madhyam' has been published as a book. Later, he started to air his views in the weekly 'Robbar Pratidin',in the feature titled as 'Du Chhokka Pnach' (two sixes and a five - the highest number of moves you can make in the popular board game Ludo
). Since January 2011 his'Du Chhokka Pnach' has become biweekly. He is noted for his satirical viewpoints regarding cultural phenomena,national and international current affairs
