Celso Dias dos Santos better known as Celso, (born February 28, 1956 in Santos (Sao Paulo)
) is a former Brazilian footballer
who played for FC Porto and was part of their European Cup
victory in 1987
.
Celso played as a central defender and joined Porto when moving to Europe from his hometown club of Santos Futebol Clube
. In the 1986-7 season he scored 3 goals for Porto en route to their victory in the European Cup, despite playing as a defender. Celso was brought to Portugal in 1985 as a centre-forward and was a noted long-range free-kick expert before being converted to a defender for Porto.
In November 1987 Celso was named in the World Soccer
World XI despite not having been capped at international level.
