Being mostly farm and ranch land, the terrain is largely open fields on flat-to-gently-rolling terrain. The ambient air temperature is typically 4 to 6 °F cooler than Dallas 30 miles south.

Sports

The Celina High School Football team is known as one of the most successful programs in Texas, with a UIL record eight state titles and a sixty-eight game winning streak. Growth

Celina is undergoing rapid growth. Having never before had any kind of retail chain other than 2 fuel stations and a small Chevrolet dealership, Celina saw a Sonic restaurant completed in 2003. In October, 2005, Brookshire's broke ground for construction of a new grocery store, where for 18 months prior only a sign had stood announcing the "future home" in the cow pasture at the corner of Preston Road and County Road 91. A McDonald's restaurant opened in October, 2011. Since 1999, much of the country land has tripled in price.

Between January 2004 and July 2005, the rush hour commute on SH 289 from Celina to SH 121 lengthened from approximately 20 minutes to almost 50. As of 2011, construction to widen SH 289 to a six-lane divided highway north from SH 121 to Hwy 380 (8 miles south of Celina) is underway.
