She is married to cameraman Dave Flynn on Sunday, 22 October 2006, and on 8 February 2010 she was gently corralled by Sunrise co-host Oliver Driver into announcing that she and her husband are expecting their first child in July 2010. On 30 June 2010, Carly and Dave had a baby girl Tilly Zoe Flynn.
Carly is currently pregnant with baby number two and is due in February 2012.

On 14 March 2005, Carly took over as the presenter on TV3's
highly successful, late-night news programme Nightline
, following in the foot steps of long-time presenter Carolyn Robinson. Flynn also continued to file reports for the show at the same time as presenting.
Flynn left the role at Nightline on 7 September 2007 to host TV3's short lived breakfast show, Sunrise
. Sunrise began on 2 October 2007 and Flynn co-hosted the show with James Coleman
, but from 6 October 2008 she began hosting alongside new presenter Oliver Driver
. Sunrise stopped going on air on 8 April 2010 as it was financially unstable.
