Biography

Son of Hugo Peña and Nilsa Aldana de Peña, he is well known for being a modest person with great charisma.

Besides music, he practices several sports. When he was young, he participated in tennis tournaments in Guatemala City where he also frequently sang to his friends for their amusement. He also joined the CSD Municipal

's lower divisions football team.

He was known to be extremely shy of singing in public, but this changed when his older brother Hugo (who lives in the USA), took him to Los Angeles, CA where he got a chance to practice his singing by doing some Karaoke.

On September 26, he competed in the final round of Latin American Idol against Ricardo Caballero

, both singing 3 songs. The next day, Carlos Peña won the contest after a 2 hour show, the same day as his mother's birthday.

This was his second year in LAI because in 2006 he didn't pass the theater round.

Carlos Peña is also an activist against the children’s Down Syndrome in Guatemala.

In October 2007, he participated in the Television Film “A Voyage through the Center of the Music” aired in November, the film was produced for the Wal Mart Company.

At the time, he is launching his very first CD called “Con una Canción” which includes a song with the same title and some other songs he performed in Latin American Idol; the CD was produced by the Mexican producer Fernando Chavez "Fech" and launched on December 10, 2007 all over Central America and settled a new record, winning a Double Platinum because of the tremendous sales (20,000 units sold in just one single day) the Compact Disc has the status of Triple Platinum.

Carlos Peña is now recording his second musical production in Los Angeles, it will include brand new songs composed by him and his brother, among other composers. His New Single Desesperadamente is to be released in early 2009 along with a videoclip.

Both Compact Discs are recorded under the Brand Label Sony BMG.

Ambassador of the Peace
