Calvert Memorial does not provide cardiac intervention care, rather a Critical Care Paramedic & RN helicopter team flies patients suffering from a Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) to MedStar Health's Washington Hospital Center, located in Washington, DC. Similarly, adult patients suffering from serious traumatic injuries are flown by a Paramedic to the level II trauma center at Prince George's Hospital Center, while pediatric trauma is flown to Children's National Medical Center, Washington DC. Calvert County Paramedics may also choose to fly critical patients directly from the scene, bypassing the local hospital altogether.

Calvert Memorial Hospital was originally located along Main Street in Prince Frederick

 until the 1950s, when it moved to a single story facility on 100 Hospital Road. In 1978, the hospital moved to its current five story building adjacent to the old hospital building. The current facility has been expanded numerous times since opening its doors.
