History

Originally founded in 1919, under the name of Sparta CFR Timişoara, it merges in 1926 with Unirea Timişoara and takes on the name of Sparta Unirea CFR Timişoara. In 1927 the club is dissolved only to be founded again, 5 years leater, in 1933, as CFR Timişoara.
