Burchfield-Penney Art Center

The Burchfield Penney Art Center is located on the campus of Buffalo State College
and was founded in 1966. Dedicated to the art and vision of Charles E. Burchfield and distinguished artists of Buffalo, Niagara and Western New York. Through an affiliation with Buffalo State College, it encourages learning and celebration of a richly creative and diverse community.
The collection includes the world's largest holding of the artist Charles Burchfield in addition to this there is an archive of over 25,000 of his drawings and notes. It is also houses Burchfield's hand-written journal.
Other components of the collection range from traditional mid-nineteenth century work to contemporary media arts. Notable artists in the collection also include, Hallwalls

The museum moved to a new home located on 4.9 acres (19,829.6 m²) of land at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Rockwell Road in Buffalo, New York
in November 2008. The Burchfield-Penney opened in its new location on November 22, 2008, with a 31-hour non-stop grand opening event. The new 84000 square feet (7,803.9 m²) museum is designed by Gwathmey Siegel and Associates Architects.
