The school has implemented several research-based programs and stategies, including the Virginia Department of Education's Effective School-wide Discipline (ESD) framework which promotes social, emotional, and academic success through positive behavior support and tiered interventions for students. Bull Run Middle School's ESD program functions under the S.O.A.R. acronym which also serves as the school's motto, "Success through Organization, Attitude, and Respect."
