Barratt competed in the 2008 Olympic Games over 200m and 400m freestyle. She was also part of the Women's 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay team, winning gold in the final, and breaking the now-previous world record by a full six seconds. She swam the second 200m after good friend Stephanie Rice
