He is Honoured Art Worker of the Lithuanian SSR (1963), SSR State Prize (1973), SSR People's Artist (1973).

Biography

In 1947, he graduated from Kaunas decorative and applied arts institute. Since 1947, he participated in exhibitions. From 1948, he taught at the Vilnius Art Institute (Vilnius Art Academy), in 1978 becoming a professor.

Works

  • Sculptural portraits (Casimir Būga etc..) Chamber sculptures (Minute Holiday "in 1957," Mother and Child ", 1965), John Biliūno Anykščiai tombstones, tombstones, author of relief.


Notable works:
  • Manufacturing and Construction, 1952, the Green Bridge in Vilnius sculptural composition (along with Napoleon Petrulis);
  • Four communard, 1973, Kaunas (along with Napoleon Petrulis) now - Grutas Park;
  • Monument to Alexander Pushkin, 1955, Vilnius, now Markučių Park to A. Pushkin Literary Museum;
  • Decorative Sculpture Ratnyčėlė "and" Motherhood "(1959, Druskininkai, Lithuania);
  • Sculpture (Kryzkalnio mother ") and the relief of the monument KRYŽKALNIS (1972; SSR State Prize, 1973). Grutas Park now stands
