, a pier was built to be used as a port for the village of Smokvica for export of local wine. Since early 1970s, Brna has become a place where people from Smokvica built their summer houses close to the sea. Since then, Brna has slowly become a village of its own, with rows of detached houses, and flats and apartments for rental to tourists and visitors.

At the shallow part of the bay there is a small pebble beach called "Zal", next to which are couple of large and old pine trees with huge branches that provide a comfortable shade on a hot summer's day. Brna has two main jetties: the larger one called "Veliki Mol" and smaller one called "Mali Mol" (meaning Large and Small Dock). These jetties are used for mooring of larger vessels, while smaller boats moor all around the bay.
