The present school campus was opened in September 1995. It is situated within the south-eastern corner of Al Hamra Compound, near Exit 9 of the Airport/Al Kharj Highway.
In 2006 another site was opened in a compound called Salwa. Pupils from Salwa Branch of the school visits BISR on every special day (e.g. Sports Day, Greek Day, House Day, etc.).
In 2008 there was a new building built in the school for Sixth form.
Besides Sports facilities and other amenities, the school also has a Starbucks coffee shop.

Establishment
British International School Riyadh (BISR), came into existence in September 1979, with the support of the British and Dutch Embassies in Saudi Arabia. It was initially opened in a large Villa in order to meet the educational needs of the local expatriate community.School expansion
The school was endorsed and incorporated into the Saudi Arabian International Schools under arrangements made by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education in March 1981. The School expanded rapidly from its original 212 pupils and in 1982 moved to another site in the Rawdah district.The present school campus was opened in September 1995.
