Together, the pair have produced children's books such as What's Under The Bed? winner of the 1997 T.E.S Award, The World is Full of Babies winner of The 1996 Silver Smarties/Nestle award and Greek Hero winner of the 2008 English Association Award. Their book Tail-End Charlie was shortlisted for The Blue Peter Book Awards 2010 and nominated for the 2010 Carnegie Medal. The partner to this was published in 2010 and titled Taff in the WAAF (about Manning's mother's war service for Bletchley Park) and won the English Association Award in 2011. Granström was elected as a Fellow of the English Association in May 2011.
Brita Granström is one of the contributing illustrators to The Birthday Book (a book for charity, celebrating His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales' 60th birthday) and We Are All Born Free (an outstanding picture book celebrating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights).
In addition to her illustration work, Brita Granström is also an award-winning painter, painting from life, often outdoors and 'in all weathers' in her homeland of Sweden and Swedish Lapland as well as in the UK. A major exhibition of her paintings entitled Life in Landscape opened in London at the Kings Place Gallery in 2011 from June 17th - July 29th. It will tour to The University Gallery in Newcastle in February 2012. There is a large format, full-colour catalogue available from the gallery documenting the last 15 years or so of Brita's painting.
