History

Brightwoods School has its roots in the one-classroom affair in 1993 at the Villa Angelina site in Angeles City, when it was still the ABC Factory. Its initial offerings were Pre-Elementary Programs only.
In 1995, with the opening of Grade 1, the School changed its name to Brightwoods School and was duly registered with the then Department of Education, Culture, and Sports, and the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-stock, non-profit organization.
The School has since set February 14, 1995- the day it got its government permit to operate- as its official Foundation Day.
The succeeding years, henceforth, saw the school’s relocation to its present site at Angeles Citicenter, Pandan, Angeles City and the opening of the elementary grade levels. The school now offers complete Pre-School, Grade School, and High School courses and is recognized by the Department of Education.
By many measures, Brightwoods is still small and quite young. But the distance the school has gone from the point at which it started is surely remarkable. It has now grown into a more ideal and respectable campus with an atmosphere and ambiance reflective of its own philosophy of child-centeredness.
With the school’s founder, Teacher Ana Maria Yap-Zubiri, at its helm, supported by a top-rate faculty and staff, the school continues to transform into a reality what was once a dream- a dream of providing our children with a haven in which to grow, learn, and thrive beautifully.
Today, the school has gained for itself a trademark for service and excellence and it remains its thrust and commitment to continually upgrade itself to attain greater educational heights.

The Preschool Curriculum focuses on the three areas of development:
Physical and Motor Development refers to bodily changes over time and the increasing competent use that is made of the body. It includes the following components: Stability Skills; Locomotive Skills; Manipulative Skills; and Pre-writing/Handwriting Skills.
Social and Emotional Development- refers to children’s self concept development and their ability to get along with others by cooperating, showing social awareness, and building relationships with others. It includes the following components: Self-Related Skills; Interpersonal Skills; and Task-Related Skills.
Cognitive Development- refers to the growth of children’s basic mental skills. It is the process by which they acquire knowledge and understanding of the world around them; also the way they learn to plan, anticipate, and choose a course of action to meet the changing demands of their environment. It includes the following components: General Readiness Skills; Language Skills; and Numeracy Skills.

The Grade School and High School Departments basically follow the Department of Education guidelines on the Revised Basic Education Curriculum.
