 as buskers. During the annual festival, the partnership met other members of the industry who encouraged them to develop their original works further.

Upon returning to Canberra, the duo was expanded to a five piece band. With the addition of new band members, Brewn' moved towards creating new songs with a strong country feel and a rock influence.

The name Brewn' was chosen by the band to incorporate their previous band name The Drop Bears (not to be confused with the Australian original band of the same name). The band considered the name Bruin before the spelling was changed to avoid copyright issues and to also create a secondary meaning of brewin' beer. The Brewn' bear is a common sight at gigs, and has appeared in both music videos to date.
