Prior to his appointment as lieutenant governor Little served in the Idaho Senate where he served as majority caucus chair and represented Idaho legislative District 11.

Personal Life and Career

A native of Emmett in Gem County, Little is a third-generation Idahoan. Little graduated from the University of Idaho. Little married Weiser native Teresa Soulen in May 1978. They have two sons and daughters-in-law and one grandson, Adam and Angela, and David and Kelsey and Henry.

Little has spent his career working in his family’s ranching interests while often engaging in Idaho public policy as a business leader. He continues to work as the head of Little Enterprises, Inc. (a diversified farming and cattle operation), Little is a former chairman of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry (IACI), the Idaho Wool Growers Association, and vice-chairman of the Idaho Community Foundation. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Home Federal Bank as well as Performance Design Incorporated – a small Boise-based manufacturing company.

Early Political Life

Little was appointed to fill a Senate vacancy in May, 2001, and was subsequently elected and reelected senator from District 11 four times. In the Idaho Senate, Little rose quickly into leadership, being elected by his peers as Majority Caucus Chairman in 2003. He held this position until Governor Otter appointed him to fill the vacancy left by then Lt. Governor Jim Risch’s election to the U.S. Senate in January 2009.
