History

The Boise Gun Club has been in operation for 113 years in the Boise Valley, and started in 1898.

 shooting events. In 1898 the club became official and it was then incorporated by the State of Idaho in 1917.
Before there was a club the first Idaho State Trap Shoot was held at the old fairgrounds in Boise, Idaho

 in 1904. In 1998 the Idaho State Shoot was held at the Boise Gun Club in the club's centennial year.

One of the original sites for the club was Hulls Gulch, and by 1912 it had more than 100 members. Several location changes took place in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s while the club continued to host many state shoots and other activities.

In 1942 the club moved a building onto property just off Federal Way. While at this location, many milestone events took place—Including installment of the first electric traps in 1954, a major clubhouse and grounds expansion and remodeling in 1963, and in 1967 that last Amateur Trapshooting Association

By the last 1960's it was decided to look for a new location so the club could expand. Land was purchased at the present location, south of the Idaho State Correctional Institution on Kuna-Mora Road. The first registered shoot there was in September 1972.

PITA - Pacific International Trapshooting Association

The Boise Gun Club is sanctioned and licensed to throw registered trap targets with the Pacific International Trapshooting Association. Pacific International Trapshooting Association is a non-for profit organization made up of State and Provincial Associations, governed by an Executive Committee elected from its members. Their goal is to promote the sport of trapshooting through organized shooting events.

Leagues

The Boise Gun Club holds shooting leagues four times a year. They are held in the Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall.
